Lucerne

Welcome!

For now, the majority of the Game Rules are unsorted, for the most part. Use the navigation pane on the left, or the search bar, to browse pages.

Summary

Lucerne is a d20 system roleplaying game with a focus on dark fantasy, deep mythology, tactical combat, and character customization and progression.

There are 9 main attribute scores, many skills, spells, and weapons, 14 classes (11 currently playable) and subclasses for each, as well as character-defining features known as "Keystones Features" for you to choose from.

Lucerne uses an Action Point system, where every player character (under normal circumstances) starts their turn with 6 Action Points (AP) to use, and different actions have different AP costs. So, at level 1, your character may attack twice, each costing 3 AP, or they may attack once and then use the remainder of their AP to do something else, or any combination of things. See: Actions.

Player choice inside and outside the game has also been a focus of the design for the game. Decision making in Lucerne is designed to be fun.

This book of rules is a living document, with its contents being updated regularly. As such it is full of placeholders and missing content during this development phase.

The core Lucerne handbook will always be free. In the longer term, there may be separate publications to purchase, such as adventures and modules, and I may create a supporter Patreon, but the current plan is to have all of the things needed to play the game contained within one wiki, all publicly accessible, for free.

Thank you for playing Lucerne,
