Resting

Eventually, your character will need to sleep, to eat, to regain your energy, and to tend to your injuries.

Resting in Lucerne takes a minimum of 8 hours. Sleep must take up at least 6 hours of a Rest, but the remaining 2 or more hours can be eating, having a conversation, or any other activity that doesn’t exert or strain you.

If you perform strenuous activities for at least an hour during a Rest, your Rest ends early, and you do not gain the benefits. Strenuous activities can include fighting, physical exertion, casting spells, or other demanding tasks. If you wish to gain the benefits of a Rest after your rest ends early, you must restart your Rest from the beginning.

When you complete a Rest, a number of things occur:

  • You can choose to roll and expend as many Vitality Dice as you have available to heal and regain missing Vitality.

  • You regain 1 Vitality die.

  • Your Death Saving Throw DC resets to it’s base value, which is normally 6.

When you complete a Rest, if you have attunement slots or cantrip attunement slots, the following occurs:

  • Spells you are attuned to regain all of their Available Casts.

  • You can choose to attune to new spells or replace your currently attuned spells.

Abilities, features, and even abilities on some items may have an amount of uses per Rest, and are labeled as such on a case by case basis.
