Tooler

A Tooler is a specialized thief who focuses on using trinkets, tools and other equipment in order to complete tasks others couldn’t. Picking locks, cracking safes, punching holes, dismantling or setting traps are all in a days work for a Tooler.

Tools of the Trade

At Level 1, you gain a Grappling Hook, a Hand Drill, Tinker's Tools, and a set of Lockpicks. When you use Lockpicks or any other tool to pick a lock or open something, relevant skill checks are made with a +3 bonus.

Your mechanical skills assist you in using traps. Traps you set can deal Sneak Attack damage if the trap is Hidden to the creature that set it off. You gain the feature Trapper's Bite.

Trapper's Bite: Traps you set deal 5 additional damage if they deal damage normally.

Additionally, you gain Perfect Loading, a feature that can be used on Loading weapons.

Perfect Loading: Weapons that have the Loading property gain a +1 bonus to accuracy if the loaded shot was loaded by you.

Trapmaster

At Level 5, setting Traps of all kinds costs 1 less AP. If setting the trap would not cost AP, but an amount of time, the amount of time spent setting the trap is cut in half.

You have advantage on any check made to find or disarm traps.

Trapper's Bite: Traps you set deal 10 additional damage if they deal damage normally.

Simple Solutions

At Level 9, your tooling skills have culminated into you being able to craft some mechanically advanced, situationally useful objects.

Skeleton Key: You gain the ability to craft a mechanically intricate master key. This Skeleton Key allows you to open all non-magical locks, padlocks, and similar designs that would normally need a key or a pick to open. To craft the key, you must spend 8 hours working with your Tinker’s Tools, and an existing key.

The Skeleton Key must be adjusted to fit the lock it is intended to open. To do so, you spend 1 minute adjusting it. Using the skeleton key to open a lock can be considered an Interaction. If the Skeleton Key is damaged, it will need to be repaired or replaced before it may be used again.

Speedloader: You gain the ability to craft a mechanism that allows you to perform the Load action on Loading weapons for 1 less AP, minimum 0. To create the mechanism, you must spend 8 hours working with your Tinker’s Tools, and a loading weapon. Affixing the mechanism to the weapon takes 10 minutes. With this mechanism installed, your Loading weapon’s Critical Failure Range increases by 4.

Hidden Traps: Traps you create and attempt to hide inherit your Stealth skill’s bonus, making them harder to see.

Trapper's Bite: Traps you set deal 15 additional damage if they deal damage normally.

Mechanically Inclined

At Level 13, your understanding of craftworks and technology has deepened.

Your understanding of machines aids you when fighting constructs, helping you identify weak points. Your Critical Range increases by 2 when attacking Constructs. You have advantage on any skill check made to garner information about a Construct or any other machine.

When you perform maintenance or attempt to repair an item, you perform those duties twice as fast.

You gain a +2 bonus to accuracy when aiming a stationary weapon. You Load Stationary Weapons for 2 less AP, minimum 0.

Perfect Loading: Weapons that have the Loading property gain a +2 bonus to accuracy and damage if the loaded shot was loaded by you.

Trapper's Bite: Traps you set deal 20 additional damage if they deal damage normally.

Industry and Cunning

At Level 17, you display an almost supernatural level of skill when working with your hands on machines and precise operations.

You gain a +5 bonus to all Sleight of Hand checks.

Perfect Loading: Weapons that have the Loading property gain a +3 bonus to accuracy and damage if the loaded shot was loaded by you.

Trapper's Bite: Traps you set deal 25 additional damage if they deal damage normally. Additionally, if a Trap you set forces a creature to make a Saving Throw, the creature makes that save at Disadvantage. If a Trap you set prompts you to make a check, you make that check at Advantage.
