A small group of acquaintances are thrust together for a life of adventure and wonder. Ash Hawthorne, a firbolg trader running the route between his home at Hawthorne Grove and the small village of Barrwater Accord, invites Ort Eratèa, an ex-scholar from a trading family and voluntary exile from Barrwater, and Graihagh Softfoot the orphaned elf with a bloodthirsty drive for vengeance, to accompany him back to the grove.
