The god of Decay, Undeath, Ambition, and Darkness; the prime deity and Eternal King of the Underdark.
Mythos
Shaytas was one of the Fae lords that left the Feywild to drive the Devil Lords from Asdar. At a pivotal moment, Shaytas betrayed the other lords, siding with Asmodeus and the Devil Lords. For this change of allegiance, Asmodeus destroyed the former god of Undeath and vested their power in Shaytas. At the Devil Lords' eventual defeat, Shaytas was banished alongside his followers to live underground, severed from the Elven Forests. Yet the gods could not destroy Shaytas, for he held power over undeath.
Shaytas is the major deity of the Drow, considered the Eternal King of the Underdark, home of the Drow. At the death of Shaytas, his body became a huge Spirit-Tree: massive, white and barren of leaves, reaching up from the Underdark against the ceiling of its caves unable to reach the light of above. Part of his spirit is said to be trapped there while Shaytas reached divinity.
Shaytas was banished alongside his consort Lolth and their twins Vhaerun and Eilistraê who constitute three eternally rivalling Drow churches.
Cosmologically, Shaytas is opposed to Sôlus, God of Life and Light, Eilistraê, Goddess of Light and Hope, and Da'ir, Goddess of Life and Nature.
