Quantalus – The Land of Hawks and Lions
In the westernmost reaches of the Kingdom of Ajuraas lies the region of Quantalus, part of the Great Kingdom of Ajuraas. Separated from the capital by hundreds of miles of desert, the Quantalusians have always been hard to control. In later years, Emirs have begun to break away from the rule of the Pharaoh threatening all out war.
Quantalus consists of harsh deserts, fertile oases and riverlands, and steep ocean cliffs. Near the coast lies a few towns and cities, especially known for their exquisite citrus fruits. The river Zaratz runs from the mountains near Dust's Pass to the Scorched Sea. Along the river are a few major cities, housing a bustling population and renowned craftsmen. The trade goods of the region are mostly brought across the Great Desert by skilled desert travellers, though some is also sold into the lands of Carília and Flourmanie.
The Leonin and Aarakocra peoples are the indigenous population of Quantalus. From before the Age of Frost and Flame, the Leonin and Aarakocra peoples lived in the lands of Quantalus, ever warring. The Leonin held the sands while the Aarakocra took to the cliffs and mountain sides. Only with the arrival of the Devil Lords did their centuries long conflict end as each race retreated before the fiends. In time a partnership and alliance would form where each would shelter and aid the other. As the Age of Frost and Flame came to a close, the Leonin and Aarakocra banded together to drive the last of the fiends from their lands and would live amicably since.
In terms of real-world culture, Quantalus can be seen as a mix of Arabian and Maghrebi.
