Northmark
In the north of Asdar, past the Branðr's Ridge and Markolak Mountains, lies the region of Northmark. Stretching from barren marches to high mountains and deep fjords, the cold northern lands may seem inhospitable to most outsiders. Yet in its many villages, the warmth of the hearths warms a hardy and hospitable folk.
Northmark is not a unified entity. It is rather split into tens of jarls, chiefs, and minor kings. Between these pockets of rule there are also plenty of peoples who live outside the organised realms, choosing to wander or make their own homes.
The population is largely Northern Human yet has large minorities of Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, and Tabaxi. Three major Dwarven Holds lie in Northmark: Clan Miðraberg, Markolak, and Rockshore.
Beneath Mount Miðral lies the largest city of the region, Sigtahafnr, ruled by its new King Áral. In southern Northmark the powerful Jarl of Firðaland rules. Along the northern coast are a smattering of minor jarls and chhiefs, and scoores oof raiders.
