A Saint of Paladin Oathbreakers

Mythos

Patron of those who break their oaths. The Sacrilegious Herald is a Saint feared and reviled by many as he empowers Oathbreaker Paladins. Worship of The Sacrilegious Herald is outlawed in many societies.

The Sacrilegious Herald emphasises free will, the break from one's Oath being freedom to follow one's own conscience. The Sacrilegious Herald has been known to appear to Paladins who have broken their Oaths and who stand on the precipice of falling from grace.

The Sacrilegious Herald was once a Paladin serving a noble lord, swearing solemn Oaths of his service. He fought for him without question nor restraint. Where the lord's light shone, The Sacrilegious Herald's sword followed. In his name, The Sacrilegious Herald razed villages, slaughtered hundreds. But the lord's light was so radiant that The Sacrilegious Herald was blinded to all else, could not see the darkness and corruption of the path he was led down. When he finally saw the truth, the lord would not be reasoned with. So The Sacrilegious Herald slew him, the object of his sacred oaths.
