A Primordial is an entity of immense inherent power. Primordials are much like gods, but derive their power fully from within and not from their followers.

The Four Elemental Primordials were beings of immense power who existed in the Age of Creation. They were each the physical embodiment of one of the four elements used in creation: earth, wind, fire, and air. The first primordials were slain by Tiamat and Asmodeus during the War of the Gods, their bodies becoming the Elemental Planes.
