The Irregulars
This Faction disbanded at Winter Council 2025, adventuring with the Elves of Misriki.
“Those who wish to impose their will on our people shall feel the sting of flame and steel.”
Background:
The village of Crescent’s Edge was in quite the state of disarray. With the Kingdom of Valon to the north, the Principality of Nuln to the south, the Orclands to the west, the Vidarian Khanate to the east, and the Great Forest at their doorstep, the village’s very existence was at the mercy of the powerful, the greedy. Then, on the Spring Equinox, adventurers from Osterra appeared in droves upon the shores of Vetus Mundi. Some worked with the corsairs, some with the knights, as the gates of the town marked a fresh, bloody battlefield. After that fateful clash, it was decided that this town be established as neutral grounds between the two warring factions, and supplies were peacefully left to the denizens of the village.
Leader: Amathien Razanur
Capital: Crescent’s Edge
Founded: September 2022
Allies: The The Elven Council of Misriki
While this peace was a sign of good fortune, there were dark clouds gathering on the horizon. The orcs, not being part of this agreement, steadily began to march and expand towards the lake the village sat upon. In desperation, to maintain their autonomy and safety, the village reached out to the Osterrans again, hoping to find allies once more to help them shore up their defenses. Many of the adventurers answered the call, providing the villagers with weapons training and basic tactics drills. Soon, they had whipped up a militia, of sorts, to protect the settlement.
An orc Warchief and a ferocious band of goblins beset them, and, in a decisive collision, the town and its new guardians defended their lands. Though many of the adventurers returned to their own factions soon after, several took purpose in maintaining the fighting force they helped build. Those who remained, and those who soon found their way to Crescent’s Edge, took on the mantle of The Irregulars, inspired by the irregular militia that they helped to raise.
The goal of this group is to maintain the independence of Crescent’s Edge and its sister-lands, both by securing plentiful resources and fiercely defending their territory from any and all who would claim it. All who stand under the banner of the moon and flame are equals, and any who would try to impose their will upon them shall be met with a force more than capable of crushing an army.
Currently, while working on their own training, defenses, and structure, the group continues to cooperate with the Osterrans of Nova Regnus as keepers of peace in spite of Ferdinand’s demise and the diminishing threat of the demons. Though initial relations with the Vidarian Khanate were poor due to their declaration of war against the elves of Misriki, the two factions have begun to settle down in the aftermath of peace.
The Irregulars work diplomatically with the Elves of Misriki to secure and protect The Great Forest. Through the cultivation of Dryad Groves, a method shared by the Prismatic Troupe, the forest is a flourishing place for fey and elven-kind.
The Irregulars also have diplomatic relations with the Orcs of the Orclands, and have participated in many blood offerings to their god, Grumush, on the field of battle. The Irregulars continue to build relations with the Dwarves of Three Peaks with their contact, Jorwen Copperbeard. Their goal is to help keep the peace between the two grudging factions by establishing a small, neutral outpost between them.
Leadership:
The Irregulars serve the will of the government of Crescent’s Edge and her people, The Caidreach Freehold. The Irregulars, being a military organization, do not have a traditional political leader, but rather an elected Captain who issues orders and negotiates with oppositional and allied forces. The current Captain is Amathien Razanur. Overseeing the defense and logistics of the people’s lands is Keighfuh Hemlock. The current Lorekeeper and Landskeeper is Bren.
Look and Feel:
The Irregulars are just that: Irregular! Between armored up soldiers, mushroomy fae, Dwarven illusionists, weird lil witches, and even a tree, we are a mish-mash of the cultures and people of Osterra and beyond! We all carry a belt favor of blue and white to show our unity in spite of our myriad differences.
What type of players/play style might enjoy this faction:
As we are a staunchly independent, anti-royalist faction, conflict is an eventuality with other groups who may wish to reinstate the crown. If you can’t stand tyrants, neither can we! The Irregulars also work very closely with the elves of Misriki, so those with an appreciation for nature or elven culture, or are elven themselves, can find a good home here! At the end of the day, we are a big group of friends who play and fight as a unit!
How is the Roleplay and Combat Focus in the faction:
Roleplay: Immersive roleplay is an important part of LARP Adventures, and one of the things we love most! Many of us try to be in character often, but are happy to break character for pleasantries and casual chatting. If you love elaborate garb, our faction has some of the most unique and ornate folks in the realm!
Combat: Combat is an inevitability in The Irregulars, both for defending our lands from invaders and gaining new lands to secure resources. If you love combat, we do it often, but only for good reason! However, you don’t have to be a master of blade, nor bow, nor spell to be an Irregular.
