Origin:
Crescent’s Edge began as a growing, independent town made up of humanoids of various backgrounds. Situated in the Free Marches, right on the western shores of lake Esmeray (also known as Tian Shi Lake to various nomadic tribes of the land), Crescent’s Edge has long since been a peaceful group of people who have lived independently from other powers.

Being so close to the Great Forest, there are many denizens of the township that share lineage with the elves of Misriki. Though the community had been relatively free from strife since the great Mage War, that was not destined to last. As of late, strong nations have begun to rally and form. The Khanate, the Kingdom, the Orcs, the Principality…all of these stronger forces threaten to swallow Crescent’s Edge whole in the name of expansion.
The people of Crescent’s Edge knew that they could not continue their peaceful ways forever. Sooner or later, someone could, someone would, take their land and freedoms, and do with it what they please. Things had to change. The community of Crescent’s Edge sent word to Nova Regnus, seeking the aid of several adventurers who had saved them from a clash of corsairs and knights several months prior.

The Corsairs of Nuln (right) and Knights of Valon (left), each aided by adventurers, prepare to battle for Crescent’s Edge.
No sooner had a group of Osterrans arrived than an orc warlord began to move across the plains, taking his vicious band of goblins with him towards the community. Whoever he was, he wanted the glory of pillaging the town. Those who came began to work with the locals posthaste. If they were to survive the assault of a war party, they would need to wage war themselves. Thus, the returning defenders of Crescent’s Edge taught the people the ways of combat, of tactics, of medicine.
The orc and his horde of warriors proved a formidable fight, but in the end, the people had won. Thoroughly beaten, the warlord retreated from whence he came. The citizens of Crescent’s Edge, relieved with another good outcome, asked if the adventurers might stay and help them further entrench their position in the Free Marches. While some of the adventurers bid farewell to Crescent’s Edge after this confrontation, there were many who accepted this offer. Thus, The Irregulars and the The Caidreach Freehold were born.
