Nicodemus came from a world devastated by a war between the gods. He served, died and was brought back in that war, and had some part in the gods' demise. Large parts of his own past are lost to him due to both trauma and time. He came to Osterra while battling demons people had started worshiping in absence of the previous gods. He encountered Sir Tanos not long after arriving and through action and deed was offered a place amongst The Cast.
