Valos the Eternal

The entity known as Valos is ancient, a product of a time before simple, defined ethics such as Good or Evil. She defies categorization, but may be described as mischievous, chaotic, cheerful, unsettling, and sinister. She is often found with the snakes who find her.
She is a current member of the The Knights and Nobles Council, and an expert on all things (in-character) Crime.
Biography
Valos came into being a long, long time ago. One of the more active forest spirits who called the forests of Eastern Europe home in the early centuries, Valos has taken on many names and forms. Highlights include: old man wizard, young woman, I don’t know what it’s called but it has horns, zmei, rusalka, leshy, and swamp thing. Valos had a long-standing rivalry with the local thunder god that may or may not have kicked off when she slept with his wife. Details.

Valos continued to interact with the local population even as her reputation as a benevolent trickster became less flattering once a bunch of priests showed up and developed writing.
Ok maybe it’s true that she’s a thief, but you can’t just say that.
One day while “borrowing” a local nobleman’s herd of cattle, Valos tumbled through a portal and into Osterra. During the quest for the Sword of Sylvia, she joined the Grove because they’re a cool group of people. She can usually be found lurking around whenever something interesting is happening.
Personality

Valos is a cheerfully chaotic person. She likes money and cool stuff, but mostly likes keeping things interesting. Though she lost the ability to shapeshift upon coming through the portal, she still retains some less-than-human qualities. She has a habit of showing off in the tavern by unhinging her jaw and swallowing meals whole. You know, for fun.
Valos thinks all children should be given knives and taught to steal.
The Snunion
Valos is usually accompanied by one or more of her snake messengers (“snessengers”), helpful friends who deliver mail and collect information around the realm. They are often seen wearing sweaters as a sign that they belong to the Messengers Union (often referred to as the “Snunion”, though all messengers in the realm are eligible to join).
Honors
At Winter Council 2025, Valos was honored by her Faction, the Grove, with the moniker of "The Eternal," due to her extraordinary service to the game and formidable spirit.
At June-hem 2025, Valos was recognized by the game's organizers for her extraordinary service surrounding the game mechanics of Crime. She was elevated to the Knight's and Noble's Council and given the Noble title of "Shadow Chieftain."
