Do'su Arrigo

Do’su Arrigo

I’m a problem-solver, like my brother Trez, but where his problems include which pompous shirt might subtly complement his boots, my problems have more to do with keeping the cargo moving on a moonless night in the rain.

Do’su is the older and less complicated brother of the Arrigo family, an easygoing swordsman enjoying life, keeping an eye out for a good sparring partner, and exploring the possibility of doing things for “good” reasons as opposed to “good for Do’su” reasons. The transition is difficult.

He owns a bakery in Aspen's Rest but schedules confusing hours and closes without notice. You’d be forgiven for thinking he doesn’t want customers. Recently, rather than “getting that bread,” he has started arranging anonymous trade deals in gold, faction resources, common items, and uncommon information. He has become known across Osterra for his honesty in business, his blunt negotiations, and keeping his promises, anonymity first among them.

Biography

Every port city in Osterra knew the name Arrigo long before the Everwar and the first portal opened. To some, the name meant supplies, food, medicine, and money, and to many others it was a warning to post more guards around your supplies, your food, your medicine, and your money. The Arrigo the world knew then was Do’su and Trez's father, Cero Arrigo, a bloody cutthroat of a man who, they say, could calm the very ocean with a glare. And so Do’su learned the blade, though he never mastered the glare, and he led his father’s enterprise when the great man fell. He grew the family business and leaned heavily on his brother’s eloquence where swords failed, but the world grew more civilized, better defended, and more wary of strange ships under dark sails.

The details of what happened next are known to a scarce few, but it is a story that Do’su thoroughly enjoys over wine. He vanished mere months before the Everwar started, leaving everything to his brother, Trez-- everything except their father’s sword. The years passed, and, hearing that the rules of Death were rewritten, Do’su arrived again in public knowledge, a changed man, or maybe the same man relieved of the burdens of leadership… who knows? A quick blade and a quicker smile, Do’su sets out to make a different kind of name for himself, to find his equal in combat and to explore in a world without Death.
