The Obelisk Keys
Obelisk keys are key items that activate ancient structures scattered around Osterra, enabling teleportation within the realm.
Backstory
Long ago, before the portals brought beings from other worlds to Osterra, there was a society of incredibly powerful mages. It’s believed that these mages set up a teleportation network via stone obelisks enchanted with powerful magics. In order to utilize this, the mages created keys that worked specifically with the corresponding obelisks in order to prevent misuse of the obelisks.
After the great cataclysm that destroyed the leylines, the keys were lost and presumed destroyed along with the network. However, the keys were rediscovered after the Osterran Alliance assaulted the Plains of Sorrow in search of General Ferdinand, and are now under the watchful eyes of The Sentinels.
Qualities
Obelisk Keys allow the teleportation network to function. This would allow for groups of adventurers to transport themselves throughout Osterra from obelisk to obelisk.
Physical description
Keys theoretically could look like many things, from physical keys to substructures that fit into the obelisk. The one overarching quality is that it activates an obelisk allowing transport.
