Formerly the ruined dam Fonti's Fancy, the village of Cascadia was revitalized to mark the triumphs and sacrifices of the Plains of Sorrow Campaign. The settlement commemorates both the cascading wrath of water and Sylvia: patron of the legendary weapon that seals demons away.
The Plains of Sorrow Campaign
After completing the quest for The Sword of Sylvia, the Grove became the artifact's caretaker. Finally, there was a real chance to fight back against demonic atrocities. The realm of Osterra needed a plan to take the fight to the demons.
The Grove was able to offer one. Previously built was a dam on the outskirts of the lands which were dominated by the Citadel of Darkness. This dam was held by The Grove and called Fonti’s Fancy.

This location was the site of a large reservoir of water, overlooking the corrupted plains. Refugees from the war lent intelligence of a contingent of the Demonic Dominion passing below it. It was here Osterrans made their stand at Autumn Adventure (2021). The fight was fierce, and the demonic host was nearly invincible with their natural resistance to standard weaponry. But at the moment of greatest need, The Grove chose to destroy their own dam, crushing most of the demonic host beneath rushing water and rock. It allowed the Osterran force a turning point against the encroaching horrors, even as the White Rose River blasted past them, unrestrained.

What was once an assured demon victory turned into the subjugation of Greater Demons Azrenious and Orzulan, cowed through the power of the Sword of Sylvia. They were shackled and exiled, thrown back through the Ebon Gate.
Though the demon army was routed, Fonti’s Fancy was obliterated as a result, standing barren for over a year until The Grove was able to rejuvenate its growing potential. For a year more, the dam stood in ruins as a reminder to planar interlopers. The War raged on, but it never extended past the dam again.
At the final push to the Fortress at Vermintide (2023), The Grove completed its rebuilding, shaping the ruins into a small village as a base of operations. And when the day was won and the High Priestess of Green Goddess cleansed the lands of corruption, The Grove elevated it into both a monument and a bulwark at Trollmas (2023).
Cascadia
The scarring of Cascadia's lands are evident. Large chunks of land and stone are missing-- the remains of the cataclysmic event two years before the Village's founding. Original portions of dam remain, cobbled together with bracing and converted to ad-hoc living space. Water weeps into a central valley where the White Rose River raged and the demons met their end. But delicately woven between these wounds are bridges, supports, and stairs carved into the natural rock. The deluge of years previous has reduced to gentler waterfalls and streams cascading into the depths.
At the top of Cascadia stands the beginnings of its bulwark, Cascadia Keep. While it is a functional barracks, it is oversized to commemorate the Plains of Sorrow campaign, architected to eventually be larger. While all are honored in Cascadia Keep, particular homage is paid to three other Factions who led by example: Guild of the Black Sky, The Cast, and Cedar Hill. With The Grove, each held or supported territory on the Map directly adjacent to the threat, keeping the demons in check for years.
At the highest point of the tower stands a statue of Sylvia, wielding an artistic likeness of her legendary sword. She faces North, resolute and defiant. The blade is pointed in the direction where the Citadel of Darkness once stood.
Growth to Town
In 2024, The Grove bolstered Cascadia, rebuilding and channeling the ferocious rapids into sustainable energy. The statue of Silvia at the Apex of the tower still bears its countenance, sword in hand, pointed toward the North. It honors the The Sword of Sylvia's sacrifice to keep the Realm safe. Now a functional dam once again, Cascadia takes on the hue of the Season around it. It harnesses the flow of the raging water to power milling-- ensuring that no one goes hungry.
