Elspeth came through the portal from an, at the time, unnamed world via a lab accident, when she and Toland were investigating the runes of a strange artifact that defied all historic and magical understanding. To them, there were no other worlds but their own, with no historical records of interplanar travel. They have since begun referring to their world as Ormenon.

Elspeth was born to a merchant family, and quickly took to the family business of employing abjuration magic to protect goods and shipments. Despite her upbringing and proclivity towards business, she pursued magical education and became faculty at a major research university. There, she began to study magical artifacts with Toland under the patronage of one of the ruling trading companies of their country. He was the expert in archeology and artifice, she was the expert in magic. Her ability to create wards saved both of their lives many times over.

After coming to Osterra, Elspeth was convinced to join Cedar Hill by Trisana in order to heal the Blasted Lands, considering it to be both good for commerce and the realm at large. To further support commerce in the realm, Elspeth joined The Church of Pecune. She has also furthered her research of artifacts and magic by joining The Sentinels and taking part in other research projects across the realm, as well as became the co-founder of the Gilded Peony Apothecary.

The primary source of Elspeth's magic comes from the vibrational oscillations and tones of the monad, the building blocks of all objects, to include celestial bodies. After beginning to worship Pecune, she began to draw power from them as well.

Elspeth is a passionate person who is prone to following her curiosities, sometimes at the cost of others or herself. Despite this, she genuinely seeks to do good for the realm. She is also known to be utterly shameless in advertising her goods and services, and enjoys building connections with potential business contacts and other factions.
