Aldermere
A cloistered settlement on a remote island, Aldermere is a mysterious village with no known native residents or history. Despite this, the village appears to have been meticulously preserved before it came under the care of the Grove.
Origin:
Months prior to the discovery of this Village, the Grove landed on an island in the Sea of Fate called Lachesis. Curiously, they found an abandoned Lumber Mill in reasonably good condition-- fully functional and even stocked with work product. And yet, there were neither workers nor nearby settlements that the Grove could discover. Spending days there yielded no caretaker, and the Grove was called away for other important matters-- most notably, the Demonic Dominion.

After the liberation of the Plains of Hope, a Grove Trading Vessel had the unfortunate luck of a squall, forcing them south to Lachesis. Despite their reports indicating an uninhabited island with few structures, the Trading Vessel moored at a conveniently located-- and not previously observed-- Dock. The mariners sought shelter at the nearby Lumber Mill for the night; the wood would come in handy for repairs. Observing Osterran custom, the quartermaster of the vessel left Gold on a central work station-- for, if nothing else, it was an offering for good fortune in bad circumstances.
When they awoke, the storm had cleared; the mariners discovered that within sight of the Lumber Mill was a lake. A series of wooden homes huddled together surrounded the water, all facing inward toward it-- like a circling of wagons. Despite the curiosity of the sailors, the landing party could not locate a single being, sapient or monster, that resided within the village. It was completely silent, save for the rippling of the lake.
Today, the Grove has begun to introduce their people to Aldermere-- named for its apparent preservation despite adversity. Full-time residents take upkeep of the village seriously, as though caretaking homes for when their owners return. The quiet of Aldermere, and the mystery of its existence, is a matter of good-natured debate among visitors who make the long trip here. Many seek the peace that the lake provides, while others find it unsettling and do not remain long.
