The Dome

There is nothing that screams Bu-Birkata more than the dome around the city. Everywhere you look, you will see a part of it. But why is it there, and what is the story around it? 

When entering the city, you would have passed the big stone gates that can be closed at any time to protect us from outside forces. When the gates are closed, there is no way to enter or exit the city. There is no safer place in the world than inside the dome.

Not only does the dome protect us from outside threats, but it also makes life deep inside the desert not just possible, but downright pleasant. The dome works as an artificial biosphere, which makes sure it's always a nice 20 degrees Celsius at 50% humidity.

Not only does the Dome protect us from the harmful rays of the sun, but it also protects us from any ne’er-do-well who attempts to attack the city. The magical wards, periodically renewed, that make up the dome are attuned to most kinds of magic and ammunition, and will not have any trouble with spells that any living mage could cast.
