Appearance

Anders Solmor is a youthful man with an air of eagerness and optimism that radiates from his bright blue eyes. His slim frame and slightly angular features give him a distinctive, almost boyish charm. His high forehead and tousled dark hair, often swept back in an unkempt yet purposeful manner, hint at his busy, ambitious lifestyle. Anders’s toothy smile, quick and wide, is as disarming as it is genuine, reflecting his approachable and hopeful nature. His attire strikes a balance between noble refinement and practicality, often wearing tailored coats with subtle embellishments and sturdy fabrics, suited to both the council chambers and his role overseeing Saltmarsh’s fleet.

Personality

Sunny and optimistic, Anders is brimming with energy and idealism. He sees every challenge as an opportunity, often diving into situations with a brash confidence born from youth and inexperience. His enthusiasm and ambition are infectious, making him popular among the working class, but his lack of real-world experience sometimes blinds him to potential risks. While Anders is quick to trust, his strong moral compass and genuine desire to better Saltmarsh guide his actions.

Traits

  • Personality Traits. He dreams of transforming Saltmarsh into a prosperous and respected town. His enthusiasm makes him a natural leader among the fishing community. His sheltered upbringing and lack of experience make him overly trusting of those close to him.

  • Ideal. Freedom is the foundation of happiness. Anders despises oppression and slavery, and he dreams of creating a Saltmarsh where prosperity is accessible to everyone.

  • Bond. Anders’s mother, Petra, was his guiding star and the person he most admired. Her untimely death has left a void in his life, and his every decision is influenced by a desire to live up to her legacy. He is unaware that his trusted butler, Skerrin Wavechaser, orchestrated her death and uses Petra’s memory to manipulate him.

  • Flaw. Anders’s youth and lack of experience make him naïve. He depended heavily on his mother’s guidance, leaving him vulnerable to manipulation by those he trusts, particularly Skerrin.

Background

Born into a prosperous family, Anders inherited his mother Petra’s fishing fleet and trading vessels after her sudden death. As the youngest member ever elected to Saltmarsh’s council, Anders has quickly become a local celebrity due to his innovative business practices and his commitment to helping the town’s fishing industry thrive. By using his fleet to drive competitive prices and offering better rates to local fishers, Anders has earned their loyalty and admiration, becoming a folk hero among the docks.

However, Anders’s outspoken opposition to smuggling and the Sea Princes has made him enemies among Saltmarsh’s more illicit factions. What he doesn’t know is that his trusted butler, Skerrin Wavechaser, is an agent of the Scarlet Brotherhood, secretly undermining him and steering his actions to benefit the Brotherhood’s agenda.

Role

As a member of the council, Anders represents the young and ambitious future of Saltmarsh. He is a vocal advocate for legitimate trade and growth, standing firmly against smuggling and slavery. His popularity among the fishing community gives him a strong base of support, but his inexperience and lack of political savvy make him an easy target for manipulation. Despite his flaws, Anders’s vision and energy are driving forces for positive change in Saltmarsh.

Authority and Conflict

Anders’s authority comes from his family’s wealth and his position as the owner of Saltmarsh’s largest fishing fleet. His willingness to reinvest in the town and fight for fair treatment of its workers has earned him the loyalty of many. However, his naivety and outspoken stance against smuggling have put him at odds with more seasoned and pragmatic members of the council, as well as Saltmarsh’s smugglers. Unbeknownst to him, the greatest threat lies within his own household—Skerrin Wavechaser, whose manipulations may ultimately undermine everything Anders hopes to achieve.

Legacy

Anders dreams of building a better Saltmarsh, one where the fishing industry thrives and its people prosper. He hopes to honor his mother’s legacy by leading with integrity and ambition. However, his youth and inexperience make his future uncertain, and unless he uncovers the truth about Skerrin’s treachery, his efforts to leave a lasting impact on the town may be derailed. For now, Anders represents hope and opportunity to many in Saltmarsh, but his path forward is fraught with challenges he has yet to fully understand.
