Role: Lankus Kurrid, once a veteran guard, now runs the Wicker Goat, the favored tavern of town guards and dwarven miners. As its owner, he oversees the daily operations. Though retired from active duty, his sharp eye and commanding presence keep the tavern in order, deterring trouble before it starts. He values hard work, respect, and a well-cooked meal. While he no longer walks the town as a guard, the Wicker Goat remains his post—one where he keeps an ear to the ground and an eye on Saltmarsh’s shifting tides.

Background: Lankus Kurrid was once a soldier who saw his share of combat on the battlefield. During his time in Gradsul, he met Mira, who would become his wife. After suffering an injury that ended his days as on the battlefield, Lankus took a post as a town guard in Saltmarsh, seeking a quieter life. It was there that he and Mira bought the Wicker Goat, a struggling old tavern on the verge of closing.

While Lankus kept up his duties as a guard, Mira took the lead in running the tavern, quickly turning it into a favored haunt for soldiers and town guards—helped in no small part by Lankus’ reputation. When he eventually retired, they put their savings into fixing up the Wicker Goat. He and Mira remain deeply in love, content in the life they built together, surrounded by the warmth of good company and the steady hum of a well-run tavern.

Personality: Lankus Kurrid runs the Wicker Goat with a firm hand and a sharp eye, tolerating no drunks, brawls, or troublemakers under his roof. A no-nonsense man, he puts order before profit, breaking up fights the moment they start, often with little more than a glare and a well-placed shove. A Loyalist at heart, he respects the mining operation and the prosperity it brings, but he has little patience for the drunken arrogance of some dwarves who look down on the town guard. At the same time, he believes the fishermen and Traditionalists should show more appreciation for the men and women who keep Saltmarsh safe. Though gruff, he is fair, and his tavern remains one of the few places where miners, guards, and townsfolk all share a table—so long as they behave.

The two quickly fell in love, and when Lankus took a post in Saltmarsh to serve out his remaining years as a guard, Mira followed.
