Scroll Library

The second floor opens into a wide, circular library balcony overlooking the chamber below. Suspended overhead are two massive dragon skeletons, their bleached bones fitted together into fearsome shapes. Whenever heat rises from the kitchen beneath, the bones give a faint clicking rattle, as though the creatures still stir in death. Tall shelves line the curved walls, crammed with scrolls and aged parchments. The air smells of dust, vellum, and faint incense.

  • Language of the Scrolls:
All scrolls are written in ancient Ket, a scholarly script once used by wizards of that region.

    • A character must be fluent in Ket to attempt deciphering.

    • DC 18 Intelligence (Arcana or History) check required to interpret the archaic text.

  • Contents:
The scrolls include a wide mix of magical lore, cantrips and spells of levels 1–3 from the Wizard, Sorcerer, or Warlock spell lists. The DM may select or randomly determine which spells are discovered when deciphered.

  • Dragon Skeletons:
The two skeletal dragons are purely decorative, impressive trophies, but without magical properties. Their subtle rattling when the air shifts is natural, though unsettling to those unfamiliar with the chamber.
