"The wood around me seemed to creep and twirl, or perhaps it was my eye that spun. And the thing moved wispily beside me. Its doggish face contorted into that of a woman I may have known, and from its belly it said, “How you bathe in your own mother’s milk, and how your hands even now tremble to grasp.”

Summary
The Drutherwood is the wild and mystifying region of woodlands encompassing a vast swathe of central Alcenia. Made up of dense thickets, perilous glades, and displaced taiga, the area is characterized by its apparent mutability--shifting consistently in breadth and content.
The Drutherwood is also known for its seemingly limitless quantities of valuable, magic-tinged resources (see: Drutherwares) .
And while the potential gain is vast, the many dangers and perils of the wood create huge risk for any who attempt to claim it. Fiend, fae, and other uncanny beings wander its landscape, and the landscape itself--ever changing, morphing, and shifting--presents just as much peril.
For this reason, a lucrative and unyielding for freelance adventurers, rangers, and hardy swordhands has arisen to quell the world's unyielding demand for more and more Druthergoods.
