Janissa Abalon is a former untenured Alcenian researcher and current founder/president of Abalon Expeditions—and thus, the employer of Pearl, Ilban, and Coriver.

She is a young elf with red hair and a shrewd face.

After failing to generate funding and support in Bell for her planned search for the ruins of a theoretical past society in Alcenia, she decided to leave University Elsewise and subsequently discovered the ghost city of Gardenwall.

When the party first arrived in Gardenwall, she approached them in the guise of a necromancer. Upon seeing they had safely returned the puppet Trelyn, she dropped the guise and offered them safe harbor and free roam of the town.

The party discovered fragments of her research as they roamed the town.

Once the party had rescued Kellam Caivaris, Janissa offered them positions and stake within the company and gave them instructions to find what helpful information they could at Sweetset while she continued to investigate the items uncovered at the sunken temple.

Later, Janissa updated the group via diode on her findings and reinforced that all expenses must come with a receipt.

Janissa interfaced with the group several more times via diode before traveling to Sweetset herself. There, she met up with the party and explained that she had come with a cart full of precious artifacts from Gardenwall to sell at the Grand Midnight Auction, but she had been approcached by a private buyer in advance.

The following morning, she went to the undersewer for a clandestine meeting with the mysterious buyer--who turned out to be Carsienne, the Dealer of Souls.

Ilban and Coriver (disguised as a crab) arrived and initiated combat. Janissa was slashed through the torso and fell unconscious. Ilban scooped her up and brought her to the sewer entrance, saving her life.
