Ascension

The character aims to rise in power, status, or spiritual enlightenment, aspiring to become a leader, a recognized hero, or even attain godhood through their actions and choices.


Betrayal

After being betrayed by someone close, the character must navigate the fallout, possibly leading to a path of forgiveness, retribution, or a deeper understanding of their relationships.


Cursed

The character is afflicted by a curse, and their arc revolves around seeking a cure or learning to live with (or even harness) the curse’s effects.


Discovery

This arc involves the character's quest for knowledge or truth about themselves, their heritage, or a mystical or ancient secret in the world.


Enlightenment

Seeking deeper wisdom or a connection to the mystical forces of the world, the character's journey involves mastering their own inner demons and understanding the true nature of reality.


Exile

Cast out from their homeland or community, the character must make their way in an unfamiliar world, seeking a new place or way to belong, or plotting their return.


Exploration

Driven by wanderlust or the need to escape their past, the character seeks new lands, delves into unknown territories, or navigates uncharted realms, each discovery shaping their growth.


Fate

Bound by a prophecy or destiny, the character must decide how much to adhere to their foretold path or fight against it, exploring themes of free will versus destiny.


Forbidden Knowledge

The character seeks knowledge that is considered dangerous or forbidden, leading them into morally grey areas and confrontations with those who would keep such secrets hidden.


Guardian

Entrusted with the protection of a powerful artifact, secret, or prophesied individual, the character must safeguard their charge from those who seek to exploit it.


Harmonizer

Bearing the burden of a catastrophic event they may or may not have inadvertently caused, the character seeks redemption and the means to stabilize the resulting chaos.


Legacy

The character is driven by the desire to create or preserve a legacy, whether through founding a dynasty, crafting a masterwork, or enacting lasting change in the world.


Love

The quest for romantic love, the protection of a loved one, or the resolution of a complicated relationship can drive this arc, intertwining personal growth with the bonds they form or mend.


Mentorship

Growing in skill and wisdom, the character takes on an apprentice, shaping the next generation and reflecting on their own growth and legacy.


Pilgrimage

Driven by faith or a need for spiritual growth, the character embarks on a sacred journey to visit shrines, holy sites, or otherworldly realms, facing trials that test their devotion.


Protection

The character is motivated by a desire to defend a person, place, or ideal, taking on challenges that tests their ability to keep their charge safe against mounting odds.


Redemption

The character seeks to make amends for past misdeeds, striving to right a specific wrong, regain their honor, or change others' negative perceptions of them.


Restoration

The character aims to restore something lost or ruined, such as a family name, desecrated land, or an artifact’s power, which requires gathering lost pieces or knowledge.


Reunion

The character seeks to reunite with lost family or friends, which may involve piecing together clues, navigating dangers, or overcoming emotional barriers built up over time.


Revenge

Driven by a need to avenge a wrong or loss, the character's journey revolves around seeking justice or retaliation against an individual or group who wronged them or their loved ones.


Revolution

Motivated by a desire for political or social change, the character becomes involved in or leads an uprising against an oppressive regime or unjust leader.


Rivalry

The character has a rival, perhaps a sibling, old friend, or nemesis, whose achievements or presence challenges them to grow stronger, smarter, or more cunning.


Sacrifice

The character knows that they must eventually make a significant sacrifice to achieve their goals or save others, and the arc explores their preparation for and reaction to this ultimate test.


Survival

Focused on enduring a series of escalating threats or a hostile environment, this arc tests the character's resilience and adaptability in the face of dire circumstances.


Transformation

This arc sees the character undergoing a meaningful change in beliefs, alignment, or physical form. This could be a voluntary quest for greater power or an imposed change they must learn to deal with.


Vengeance

Similar to revenge but focused on a broader scale, such as avenging a destroyed village or toppled kingdom, driving the character to seek power and allies to confront a formidable enemy.
