The Three Moons
The World of Azure has three celestial satellites. Within Lythran, these moons are referred to by the names The Beast; The Martyr and The Trickster.
The moons are known to the people of Lythran as entities of change, each with different personalities and wills.
Throughout the histories of the globe, however; whenever lost souls would look into the sky, they would dream and wonder about those great orbs' meanings and lore.
This has created hundreds of myths about the three moons across the countless lands of the world.
This chapter will detail just a few of those myths, starting with that of Lythran and the beliefs of those that live the continents around it.

Lythran and The Eight Saints
Lythranic Beliefs
The Beast
The Beast is the largest of the three moons and is only fully visible for one month every eight years. It bathes the globe with a red glow that when full, colours the whole night sky in a dull wine-dark fever.
The Beast is a violent and hungry place, it is known that all evil souls are taken to The Beast and used as its slaves until the time of retribution, when The Saint splits and takes their vengeance on the other moons
The Beast will often spit out vile comets that strike Azure and cause havok with the twisted beasts that emerge.
When The Beast is in full phase, those born under it's gaze may be born as Moonmarked. Those born Moonmarked during the phase of The Beast are born with queerly pigmented skin, horns, a tail and occasionally even hooves.
In some circles, this is looked at as a curse, and babies born moonmarked this way are cast out or even sacrificed, but others see it as a blessing and protection from The Beast's powers.
The Martyr
The Martyr is the smallest of the three moons, it's cycle waxing and waning once every month (a mere 8 times a year). It shines a pale yellow glow but once and only for an hour when full, in the dead of night, it basks the globe in all its glory. This glory lights up the face of the world as bright as day. It is known as the Ascension.
The Martyr is a bright and loving moon, but with a shining temper kept shackled beneath its surface - longing to enact justice but having the grace to refrain from violence. Some folk may make sacrifices or offerings to the Martyr in hope of retribution and forgiveness of sin, lest their souls be taken by The Beast.
It is known that once, The Martyr was the largest moon in the jewelled sky, but with the help of the trickster, The Beast trapped The Saint in it's miniscule form.
Those born under The Ascension are, in a similar sense to the beast, often born as "Moonmarked". Those born as moonmarked during The Ascension of The Martyr are born to physically represent the 'mood' of the Martyr at the time, perhaps with enormous feathered wings, a lunar halo, blinding radiance pouring from their eyes; or all together different, black and stained, representing the dark side of pride that the Martyr may be feeling.
Children moonmarked in this way are coveted and widely considered blessed throughout the eight realms, but like all young beings born into great power, this is often more of a curse than a gift.
The Trickster
The Trickster is smaller than The Beast and larger than The Martyr, but vastly different to both. Unlike the others, it has no phases and never changes its face. A sickly green glow constantly emanates from The Trickster, flecking the clouds that pass it by with a verdant halo.
The Trickster is known to be a sly and crafty moon, representing the schemes of dangerous men and the plots of evil women. It is known that long ago, the Trickster fooled The Martyr into giving up its power and size in a great game, but instead of The Trickster managing to seize control, it was overpowered by The Beast and shunned by both. From that day, it was cursed by The Martyr to never change its face and never bear children on Azure.
Due to this event happening around 1000 years ago, some elves still bear the moonmark of The Trickster, presenting as Fae-Elves. These elves are in a constant seasonal flux, their appearance and personality in a flux state for their whole lives. Not many of these elves remain.
No children can be born moonmarked from the Trickster thanks to its curse, but it is known that its link to Azure allows it unparralelled access through the Arcane Confluence. Thanks to this, portals into the trickster can appear almost anywhere, and usually at the most inopportune times.
The Elves of Eária
Elven Beliefs
Chima - The Red Son
The largest moon is known as Chima.
Chima is known for responsibility and duty, for stepping up to defend those in need and to be trusted in all things.
Itzca - The Green Son
The verdant moon, furthest from the others in the sky, is known as Itzca.
Itzca is known for kindness and humility, for strength in hard times and enduring all that life can reveal to a soul.
Acala - The Bright Son
The smallest and brightest moon is known as Acala.
Acala is known for his strength and fury, with a never ending thirst for power and ascension.
It is said that almost 1000 years ago, a great war blazed across the skies, as Babci'an's three sons fought for supremacy over the stars. In legend, Itzca and Acala fought especially brutally, and when Acala went too far, he crippled his brother with a great blow. Ever since, the race of moonmarked elven kin has been lessened and ruined. For Acala's treachery, Babci'an cursed him, raising Chima to the great red heights and locking Chima in the smallest and furthest moon. Every two weeks, Chima screams for his mother to free him, and one day it is said that she will relent, freeing him from his torment. The elves dread this eventuality of course, as it almost certainly means the doom for Itzca and the last of the Fae Elf race.
Goblin-kind
Goblinoid Beliefs
The relationship between goblin-kind and the satellites that line the skies of Azure is a complex one that cannot be done justice in just a few short paragraphs, but it will have to do for now. Goblins believe that the world they stand on, as well as the sun in the sky and the multi-hued moons all
Wyrmborn and Abhiianism
Abhiianism's Beliefs
For the Wyrmborn following Abhiianistic practice, like most do, the moons of Azure are the creation and gift of their god Abhishekh, the anointed one. The three are each tied closely to the three classes of dragonborn culture, the red representing the chromatic populus, large in number and dangerous if underestimated, but
