Houses and Families of Lythran

In the societies and daily lives of the people of Lythran, family is paramount. From the great royal houses of Old Teres; to the closely knit families and communities that make up the common-folk's routine, without these hierarchies society as they know it would collapse.

The society of Lythran operates on a feudal system, where power and land are concentrated in the hands of noble families. Each house holds a certain amount of power, land, and influence over a particular region or territory. The common folk are usually tied to the land owned by these noble houses, working as peasants or serfs to sustain themselves and contribute to the wealth of their lords.

The hierarchy of these houses determines social status and opportunities for advancement. Folk born into lowly families have limited prospects for improving their station in life, while those born into noble families enjoy privileges and access to education, wealth, and positions of authority. Marriage alliances between noble houses further reinforce social standing and consolidate power.

An important thing to note is that this is not a one-sided relationship however, lords and barons are expected to defend their lands and subjects from external threats, whether they be raiders, invaders, or supernatural dangers like wyrms and were-beasts. Additionally, the lords are responsible for administering justice and resolving disputes among their subjects.

These wikis detail the Noble Houses that the players may encounter or hear about during their chronicles. They are also useful tools for designing backstories to your characters. If you are a member of the common folk then you will have most certainly had your place in the heirarchy, serving some baron or lord in some way.

Perhaps you are even a member of one of these houses, some rebellious daughter off to make her own mark on the world, or an exiled son, cast out from his own family.
