Lythran

Lythranic Society

The great Noble Houses are the 8 houses/families that each control one realm of the Kingdom of Lythran.

The realms are split in 3, the West, East and Core.

Each Liege rules over their alotted Realm, and each RealmLord/Lady within it answers to them.
Within each realm, many Noble lords hold fiefs and lands, collecting taxes for their respective lords.
Further down the feudal heirarchy are Lesser houses and barons that hold land of wider variety, with various smaller settlements within them.
Beneath all are the common folk that work and toil for the greater good of all.

The Feudal Hierarchy of Lythran:

  • Eolder Council

    • A select council of nine elders, eight chosen from each noble house of Lythran and one from the commonfolk.

    • These men and women decide on the laws and events of the entire peninsula.

    • The members of Eolder Council are called Councilmen/women, but are often called "Fingers" by the commonfolk, due to their puppet-like control and use of fingers as symbols.

  • Lieges

    • The eight realms of Lythran are split into three greater realms; The West, The Core and The East.

    • These greater realms are appointed a lead noble house from the realms within it's borders.

  • Great Houses

    • Each individual realm is controlled by a Great House. All the noble houses within that land are sworn to that family and are expected to follow it's commands and pay tithe.

    • The Heads of the Great Houses are called Realmlords, all other members of the house are called Lords.

  • Noble Houses

    • The Noble houses of a realm each control the the lesser realms and lands of their fiefdom, swearing loyalty to the Great House of who's land in which they reside.

    • They command the commonfolk of their region and are expected to supply the great house with soldiers and armies come time of war.

    • Members of a Noble House are called Lords.

  • Vassal Houses

    • The Vassal houses, also known as Lesser Houses, of a realm own duchies, paying tithe and fealty to the Noble house controlling the fief which their duchy resides in.

    • Heads of these Lesser Houses are called Dukes.

  • Barons

    • Towns and their townsfolk are often held by Barons, who are instructed to uphold the law and order of civilised society by their Duke and Lord.

  • Common-folk

    • These are the people of the land. 90% of Lythran are common folk, born in and dying in one fief. Despite their low status however, these are proud and hardy folk, not to be trifled with; many dukes and barons are as afraid of their common folk as they are of them.
