About Lythran

"When The Saints caught glimpse The Heartlands, they wept with joy. Those tears ran from those cruel mountains and settled here by Lake Lythenmar; and into my wine." - Meryn the Blue of The Patinal Quarter, Lustrkeep

Lythran is the central and largest continent of the known world. It is made up of eight realms, ruled under Eolder Council, an elected senate of nine. The eight realms of Lythran are varied in size and geography, but most of all in culture.
Split into three great realms, ruled by a Realmlord respectively of West, Core and East, each realm is ruled by a great lord, who subsequently rules those lords beneath them. This system forms the basis of the feudal government that dictates the daily lives of the common folk.
Above all however, is Eolder Council, a conglomerate of nine elected but anonymous officials that rule the Eight Great Noble Houses.

Lythran is not isolationist however, and relies on trade from the The Archepeligian States, Thêsos, Eária and the The Duervin Honurium via land routes or ship trade.

The lands of Lythran are mapped and settled but even after almost a millennia, untamed. The Wildfolk raid from the True and Gifted wilds, Deep Peoples birth themselves from beneath and claim new land, abominations creep in from the shadows and Drac Wurms take human prey for the first time in a hundred years. All while a steady distrust for the Council and the fog of oppression looms among the The Common Folk.
All is not well, and it seems there is little nobility can do to save it

Sparknotes History

Originating from the Human, Gnomish and Half-folk (scrap?) refugees from Thêsos, the once-empire of Lythran washed over the central continent of Azure and has since become the dominant power in the world. Long it had been ruled by an unstable monarchy, with frequent wars, betrayals and constant infighting. Around 150 years ago however, the last king proclaimed that the line would end with him and that he had created a stable solution - Eolder Council.
This council of nine presides over the laws of the land, one lord taken from each Great House and one randomly selected from the common folk.

This change was not taken lightly by some lords however, culminating in the Red Sky War some 50 years ago, where the supposed nephew of the last king rose to prominance and claimed himself as the rightful king. A brutal and bloody rebellion was eventually crushed by council loyalists but to terrible costs of life and moneys.
Since, Lythran has been in a tense state of peace, with the nobility in a constant state of plotting and the common folk still feeling the loss of family and homes.

With the tensions in cities and among the noble class at a low simmer, and the nation piled under debt after debt, other threats that have been lurking in the shadows are making their move; The Wildfolk raids around the untamed edges of civilisation, pirate raids on trade-routes, foul beasts crawling out from the dark, even an uptick in beast-tears crashing down onto the crust of Azure.

With these threats, however, come heroes. A new breed of adventurers is staking their claims outside of the safety of their homes, seeking to make a name for themselves and do their part to save whatever is left of Lythran.
