The Saltides

"I've never liked oysters. Now I bloody smell like one" - Tyke o' Berrin, Mercenary

The Saltides are a realm of motley biomes and patchwork fiefs that make up a cracked peninsula and its scattered islands. Led by Robert of House Pyre out of the ancient city of Wharfdale; the Saltides are a peninsula of freezing salt-marsh and snaking rivers connecting a variety of settlements to the capital.

Also included in the Saltides is the island of Crestfal, a mineral rich crescent shaped island surrounded with the abbey-turned-continental capital of St. Perigé's Hollow.

Much of the Saltides' industry relies on fishing, both at sea and inland using stilts to navigate the deep marshes. In the winter, the marshes freeze over, but the marine life travel in the marshes and under the ice, so bronze blades are fixed to the stilt-legs and are used to cut through the crust.

Glacial salt-water floods the Saltides that melts into marshes during the summer months, and then freezes over again as harsh ocean winds blast the peninsula. Hardy swamp trees grip swathes of soil tight, allowing precious few settlements to develop and prosper.
