The Settlement:
A Large Coastal town on the western shore of the Saltides, Wharfdale extends down the Silver Shores that orbit the island of Crestfal, its calm waters allowing easy access for trading ships and the security that most other ports lack. The city smells of salt and sea, a trade hub of import into The Saltides and the rest of Lythran.
Wharfdale trades often with Eária, hence its working population. This has led to a large portion of the southside being made up of ramshackle settlements and slums and the name The Stink, after its use of The River Yen as garbage disposal and (further upstream) a fish-gutting station.

History.
Before the Pyres held Wharfdale and The Saltides, it was held by the rebel house of Duskridge, who opposed King Gustav II's announcement that the kingdom would become ruled by Eolder Council after his death.
House Pyre took the city by force in 322 AUE, killing Aric Duskridge and handing the Saltides back to the Crown's control.
For this loyal service, House Pyre was raised to greatness and given Wharfdale as a seat.
