"Grandest are the temples of Mahath. The opulence of the elves can only be understood when stood in the centre of the great Oknar in Coapetl" - Marie Mytchell

Basic Information

Mahath is the pantheon of Elven gods that are widely worshipped by Wood Elves, High Elves and River Elves. The pantheon is formed of Babci'an, the mother of all things, and her three sons; Chima, Itzca and Acala.

It is said that almost 1000 years ago, a great war blazed across the skies, as Babci'an's three sons fought for supremacy over the stars as circling and shifting celestial orbs. In these legends, Itzca and Acala fought especially brutally, but eventually, Acala went too far, he crippled his red brother with a great blow.

Ever since, the race of moonmarked elven kin has been lessened and ruined. For Acala's treachery, Babci'an cursed him, raising Chima to the great red heights and locking Acala in the smallest and furthest moon. Every two weeks, Chima sings for his mother to free him, and one day it is said that she will relent, releasing him from his torment. The elves both long for and dread this eventuality of course, as while it almost certainly means the doom for Itzca and the last of the Fae Elf race, it would be the

Worship

Worship is an incredibly important part of daily life for elves who follow Mahath, who bathe their hands and faces in hot salt every morning and night. Sacrifices and offering are made to the salt-like dream realm that elves enter during these meditations, with centuries of art, totemic worship and history that form a central part of elven doctrine.

Męszkalar - Salt-Dreaming

The practice of Męszkalar is unique among the elven races. Often practiced through meditation, elves may enter a dream state in which they commune with their kalar-selves, ascended souls that they can commune with in times of need.
The elves believe that these 'kalar-selves' are the souls of dead elves who share they a particular kinship with, and after they die, their souls will join another choir, guiding whoever comes next through their lives when called upon.

As Męszkalar is a uniquely elven trait and the one factor that allies the many tribes of elven society.
