Father Root and Mother Rot, also referred to as "The Green Two", are reletively new deities to the continent of Lythran. They came about long after the rejection of Karüm and The Gifting, when the people of Lythran felt their connection to the world slipping. It was felt by some that The Eight Saints were not closely tied enough to the ground beneath the feet of the common folk and that a deeper connection was required.

Belief of Root and Rot began with the enlightenment of Klaus and Xanthe Hedera, a couple living in the town of Allerford. They were said to have been outcasts before their "enlightenment", but once the mother and father made their home in the couple, those who knew the love of Rot and Root flocked to Allerford in pilgrimage.

There is still a strong following of the Green Two in Allerford, long after Klaus and Xanthe's mortal forms dissolved into the roots and vines that held them up, and their images are still visible in the dried branches and ivy that make up their silhouette standing in the living room of their old home.
