As the Orcen rider of the Wildfolk cantered towards Ser Ghal, his mare came to a careful stop, a good 10 foot away. The Orc reached into his side pouch and produced a handful of soil, casting it on the dry earth; a sign of peace in his culture. Ghal cursed himself for not bringing soil of his own.
A visit to Barrington Bay is enough to overwhelm even the bravest of common folk, the miscellany of heights, faces, smells, sounds, accents and languages can make one feel so small and insignificant that it is known to induce depression in some travellers. For others however, the bustling hive of dockyards and merchantry is nothing short of paradise. Human common-folk rub shoulders with tall elven merchants bringing imports from afar, harsh dwarvern ironmongers peddle their wares to gnomish pilgrims, all the while a halfling thief makes his fortune cutting purses before a stern wurmish hand grips the young man's shoulder and his heart begins to sink.
Cultures of The Chronicles of Lythran
Azure, and subsequently Lythran, is a richly populated world of many races and cultures. From the deep elven groves of geometric perfection to the cramped and filthy human cities which are blotted across the continent of Lythran, each choose their path through life in their own ways.
The race you choose for your character will heavily impact your character's upbringing, traditions and the way that others entertain their presence.
Some races, like Herpetón, Humanity and Wurmborn, are much more likely to adapt to the cultures around them throughout their life, so are often detatched from the 'typical' culture of their species. This is however, the exception. Many peoples are insular and steeped in the tradition of their ancestors, leaving an indelible mark on even those far from home.
Choose wisely.
The races of Azure are largely set in stone. The races presented here are the options that a player has when creating a character. Not all 5e races can be played in AtCoA. This is for balance and story purposes, the world I have created has set flavours in my mind and I'd rather things feel appropriate rather than a centaur, a ghostwise halfling, a talking goat and a plasmoid walk into a bar filled with your average Honeymouth citizens.
Additionally, some races have been renamed to better fit the setting. Contact me if anything is amiss.
