About
At this time, King Wilhelm II was the reigning monarch of Lythran, his reign was marked by pestilence and conflict, and as time went on, he became cruel and unliked. Before the Dove Rebellion, House Dove had become powerful and well liked. King Wilhelm II saw this as a slight and ordered the murder of the entire Dove house in a fit of rage suspecting treachery.
The castle of Maulham Keep were razed and its people slaughtered and its ruins stand as a haunted blot on the Old Teres landscape.
After this monsterous act, the very rebellion that Wilhelm aimed to quash sprung into action, eased by Wilhelm's insistence on sending the majority of his best men to Eária. It was a fast and well designed coup the day after Midwinters' festivities, where Wilhelm had overindulged and was unsuspecting.
After this surprise attack, it transpired that a number of houses had actually been plotting to usurp Wilhelm II and were to seat a young Westmerk Bastard by the name of Wulfric on the throne. Marcus Dove was planned to be the one to teach Wulfric how to rule, but after his murder and the subsequent Dove rebellion, the boy was crowned and thereon councilled by Noble Houses Goddswyk and Fél.
House Dove was martyred and canonised by a new sigil, hung from the The Ruins of Maulham to this day.
