Elvish; Shahldur (Shahl-doohr) dread king(minor)

Elven officers with origins in the dark days- named for their practise in adopting weapons and techniques of the forces of darkness and fire that threatened the world at the time.

They were among the first elves to don black, adorn their armour in spines, and paint their faces with iconography that, at the time, terrified their people.

It was an attempt made in desperation when it seemed hope was fading. As it happened, the first Dreadlords inspired those under them and inadvertently sparked the aesthetics and motifs Drâihari adopt today.

Among the Valari, there are no Dreadlords today. Among the Drâihari, Dreadlords are a common sight and serve as officers beneath the Black Princes.

Dreadlords serve varietal purposes in the Drâihari war machine and it's just as often that no two are alike. Some may govern and oversee tracts of land in Niskerra while others are more akin to agents of the Black Princes who serve only their master's whims. Others yet inspire warbands to answer their calls to battle.
