“Every other plane has birthed its own wonders, but The Material Plane? Now that's one damn useless piece of barren rock if I've seen one.”
The Life Sucking Plane
At A Glance
Aliases: Often simply called "En", since that planet is all of any note the small, vast emptiness contains. Alternatively known as "The Life Sucking Plane" and other denominations such as "The Energy Eating Plane", since it eagerly draws on the energy of the extraplanar to sustain itself.
Function: The Material Plane serves at the core of the Universe.
Rulers: The Material Plane has no gods or divinities of its own. The plane is defended only by a handful of interested Extraplanar divinities, and by being so absolutely boring and worthless few pay it much mind.
Inhabitants: Most of the plane is barren, but En is infested with humanoids and beasts, and elementals constitute The Star Clouds.
Description
The small, godless blip sitting at the center of everything, the origin of every scrap of life, energy, and matter within The Material Plane can be traced back to extraplanar influence, the plane having refused from its first unfortunate stumbling into existence to create a single thing for itself. A vast, empty space with a small, worthless, life covered rock at its center, a single blue sun, two warring moons, and not even the concept of stars.

The large blue sun, Ember, circling the small, irrelevant En. The sun and planet are framed by swirling Star Clouds.
Location:
The Material Plane sits at the center of everything.
Neighbors:
The Feywild and Shadowfell wrap around En, cutting over through around and across the planet.
The Elemental Planes cross at points, but most of their intersection seems to fall in the empty space.
Inhabitants:
All inhabitants of The Material Plane can trace their existence back to extraplanar influence, either being created by or descended from the extraplanar. Humanoids are the most prominent species on En, although all sorts of creatures can be found there. Little unifies these creatures other than a strong desire for survival against all odds.
Some elementals dwell in the vastness of space, making up The Star Clouds.
Rulers:
No one rules The Material Plane, but Ember certainly oversees quite a bit.
Origin
The Material Plane stumbled into being at some point after the rest of the universe had settled quite nicely. This change would have upset people, if the small, endless, nothingness had done anything important enough to be noticed. Instead, it just sat there. A few took interest in the unnatural stillness, and then quickly grew bored. Eventually, the emptiness ran into The Feywild and The Shadowfell and some substance began spilling over. It soon became clear this nothingness could sustain things, it just could not create of its own accord. Thus began the curious table of this curious plane.
