Description
Like the native Wild Fey, The Feywild is a vibrant plane, full of life and energy. While some Shadow Fey might defy Oblivion by existing in a state of eternally rotting undeath, Wild Fey might defy Oblivion by existing in an eternal state of youthful energy. It is a plane of immediacy and fleetingness, its inhabitants quickly forgetting what is not directly in front of them, valuing immediate results to long term planning.
Almost everything in The Feywild is intensely alive. The trees are dryads, or plant creatures, with their own dreams and desires. The rivers are playful and inhabited by laughing nereids. The winds are adventurous roamers or remorseless gossips. The plane exists in the soft light akin to that of an eternal dawn, the promise of new experiences to come.
Moderation is not a concept many of the plane are familiar with, the plane's overly alive inhabitants free to pursue their desires beyond mortal limits. Mortals adventuring here might find themselves consumed by the plane's sense of excess and caught up in dance until their feet are worn to the bone, or feasting until they burst.
Location:
The Feywild is one of the innermost planes, and was once thought to be the final plane to come into existence with its Shadowfell sibling. It, with Shadowfell, is surrounded by The Elemental Planes.
Neighbors:
The Feywild borders The Shadowfell, where the opposing forces of the two planes clash. In a sense, the Feywild lies above the Shadowfell. One typical travels from the Feywild to the Shadowfell through great tunnels hollowed out by the roots of the plane's greatest trees.
One can also travel from The Feywild to The Material Plane or to The Elemental Planes through natural portals where the borders run together and weaken. However, such natural portals are unstable and ever shifting, and one is more likely to stumble through one by accident than to find one in a time of need.
Inhabitants:
Wild Fey and Elementals are the primary denizens of The Feywild.
Rulers:
The Olympic Pantheon has no main ruler, with its gods equally matched in power over their own domains. Should a great conflict arise, whichever deity oversees the relevant domain will step in to mediate.
Origin
The Outer Planes are made of conceptual energy, and the Elemental Planes of material elements. When the conceptual energy of The Outer Planes and the material elements of the Elemental Planes leaked down into the void of emptiness they surrounded, the Feywild and Shadowfell were born.
History
Feywild inhabitants are not prone to record keeping. They do not value history, which is over and done with, and thus offers them no excitement. As such, there are few firsthand accounts of the plane's history.
