“Imagine you're standing inside a clock, but the clock hates you because you're not part of the clock, and so all the parts of the clock will try to murder you to make you a part of the clock. That's Mechanus.”

The Plane of Order

At A Glance

  • Function: Mechanus is the birthplace of all order and predictable structure in the universe.

  • Rulers: Dracar rules over this plane, their will shaping it. The rest of The Mechanical Pantheon works under them.

  • Inhabitants: Most of the plane is upkept by will-less automatons who maintain order and wage the endless war against Pandemonium and its demiplanes.

  • Primal Domain: Order (Peace)

Description

Mechanus is not a plane conducive to life, and even most of its demigods spend their time elsewhere. The plane demands unmitigated adherence to order and structure- a single thread out of place is considered a catastrophe. Everything is highly regimented with no room for change or creativity.

Since it's conception, its forces have warred with Pandemonium, seeking to extinguish all free will and tip the universe to perfect, stagnant, all-encompassing order.

Location:

Like the other primal planes, Mechanus sits on the outer ring of The Outer Planes.

Neighbors:

Mechanus is bordered by its four intersecting demiplanes: Designation, Oblivion, The Hells, and Respite.

Inhabitants:

Aside from Dracar, who embodies and rules over the plane, most of the plane consists of will-less automatons, known as mechanical soldiers. The plane is conducive neither to life nor to free will, so most others avoid it.

Rulers:

Dracar rules over the plane in an oppressive, rigidly structured bureaucracy.

Origin

As The Astral Plane was settling, thoughts and concepts began to form. The five primal planes were born from the plane of magic, each settling into its own corner and birthing its own pantheon to grow and protect it.
