Basic Information
Humanoids are intelligent creatures which originated in The Material Plane. They include Dwarves, Elves, and Humans.
Humanoids are defined by their radical ability to choose their path and shape themselves. They are not confined to the overwhelming conceptual energies of celestials, nor the elemental make up of elementals, nor the contrasting vibrant and stagnant natures of fey. Compared to all other intelligent creatures, their nature is unconfined, free to choose without constraint what they will become.
Relations of other Races
Some extraplanar beings look upon humanoids with distain, viewing them, and the entirety of The Material Plane, as a waste of divine energies. Demons and Devils are especially known for causing trouble, Demons slaughtering humanoids to consume their energies, and Devils promising enticing, short term rewards in exchange for the soul upon death.
Others watch curiously, intrigued by these strange creatures and their strange plane, which combines aspects of all that has come before. Some seek refuge among the humanoids, such as Dracar's tainted constructs driven by a newfound sense of free will and self-preservation, or Wild Fey enticed by the possibility of a radically different life.
Myths and Lore
The First People
The First People refers to En's first generation of humanoids, those who came into the world before Ember brought The Blue Sun. This group includes Shadar-kai, Drow, Batfolk, Duergar Dwarves, Deep Gnomes, and Changelings. Nowadays, most of these peoples dwell underground, in The Underdarks. They are best suited to the dark, and many find bright sunlight painful or uncomfortable.
On En, most of the First People have Superior Darkvision and Sunlight Sensitivity.
