Description
Where Designation puts knowledge to use for the sake of the community, Proto puts knowledge to use for the sake of the self. Fundamentally opposed to Harmony, denizens of this plane have little regard for the status quo, and for Oblivion's natural order. Instead, they strive to defy what is and better themselves, everything they do oriented towards progress.
In a way, Proto and Respite have much in common, both challenging the natural order and seeking to bring about change. But Proto lacks Respite's focus on community good and community activism.

Proto sits with the rest of The Neighboring Planes in the middle ring of The Outer Planes.

Proto's resident celestials are criticized for being overly controlling, for playing with powers that would be best left alone, for believing that their own knowledge is worth more than established tradition and that their own goals are sufficient reason to break with what is known to work, putting the planes are risk.

Origin
In the early days of the Universe, the conceptual energies of Arcadia and Soular ran together, combing aspects of both planes and creating new deities and celestials to embody those aspects.
