Sun City refers both to the city itself, set into the Singing Rises cliffside, and the surrounding lands of the city-state. The city is populated primarily with Humans, Aarakocra, Elves, and Dwarves. Fire genasi of various heritages, typically born as the result of exposure to traces of fire elemental energy during development, are also a common sight within the city.
The glorious city shines white and golden, the fires of its lanterns ever burning with a magical blaze that keeps the city gleaming even on the darkest nights. Even the city's stone itself seems to shine, and the city can be seen from a distance in the darkness of night, a glowing dot on the cliffside.
The neighboring kingdom of Darem-Azam lies to the south, and the city-state faces near constant threats of invasion from their neighbor at Ricken Pass.

The Academic District
The Political District
Primary Features
Government
Sun City is ruled over by an elected council of 10 individuals, one elected from each district. The surrounding areas are not included in this representation, but the council still makes decisions that affect them.
Defence
A powerful protective magic has long been layered over the city, keeping out outsiders. At a young age, residents receive a runic tattoo which permits them to exist safely within the bounds of the city. Those who do not have the tattoo find themselves weakened, slowly drained by the city's magic and easily picked up and dealt with by the guards.
Commerce
Much of Sun City's exports consist of materials, such as fine stones and ores, mined from the mountainous cliffs the city sits upon.
Population Metrics
Culture
Sun City is centered upon the Phoenix, their devotion to the magical creature blessing many of the city's inhabitants with magic of their own. Those gifted with magic are encouraged to study at the academy and spend a few years serving the military, guarding Ricken Pass from Darem-Azam's forces.
Education
Sun City has long been regarded as a city of the magically gifted, producing an abundance of skilled mages. The city even has its own magical academy for higher study, with tuition free for those who agree to serve the guard for a time after graduation.
At the younger level, the city provides public schooling for its residents, run through The Church of the Everburning Fire, although beyond the city itself, institutions of public education are rare.
Religion
Sun City worships the Phoenix, a blazing bird of fire representing hope, endurance, and rebirth. Although some might call the city's claim that their city burns with the Phoenix's fire heretical, others see the city's eternal shine as evidence that the bird has blessed them. The city is adorned with Phoenix iconography, including a grand statue of the bird carved from the city's iconic glowing stone, the statue's eyes burning with unceasing blue flame.
The Church of the Everburning Fire is the official state church, overseeing the city's religious matters.
