Illusion

The School of Illusion is mostly linked to deception, sleight of hand, or manipulation. The deception woven by Illusion magic includes disguises, sound effects, physical manifestations, or even mind-altering visions and nightmares.

Illusionists focus their studies on magic that dazzles the senses, befuddles the mind, and tricks even the wisest folk. Their magic is subtle, but the illusions crafted by their keen minds make the impossible seem real. Some illusionists – including many gnome wizards – are benign tricksters who use their spells to entertain. Others are more sinister masters of deception, using their illusions to frighten and fool others for their personal gain.

History

Illusion was the 5th school of magic to be discovered. It is probably the school second closest to working with The Weave directly, after Evocation. Spells of this school require the caster to have a firm will, in order to draw upon magical energy and craft things that are not there into forms capable of interacting with the world. It is similar to Conjuration in that it brings news things into the space around the caster, but differs in the fact that those new things come solely from The Weave and the caster's energies and will.

Illusion spells deceive the sense, sometimes so much so that the illusionary magic becomes real, causing harm or creating physical substance.
