The School of Necromancy explores the cosmic forces of life, death, and undeath. Those who focus their studies on this tradition learn to manipulate the energy that animates all living things. As they progress, they learn to sap the life force from a creature as their magic destroys its body, transforming that vital energy into magical power they can manipulate.
Most people see necromancers as menacing, or even villainous, due to the close association with death. Not all necromancers are evil, but the forces they manipulate are considered taboo by many societies, especially the resurrection of the long deceased.
History
Necromancy is a divisive school of magic, developed in low whispers and unobserved shadows. Many of its spells challenge or violate the will of The Oblivious Pantheon, and as such many Necromancers are shunned, even by those without direct ties to Oblivion, out of respect for the pantheon and the work they do to maintain order and harmony throughout the universe. Healing magic is tolerated for its usefulness, but healers are looked at with reservation, carefully watched should they ever take their powers too far.

Necrotic spells deal with the forces of change, and constancy that surround life, death, and undeath. These spells rapidly rot the flesh with intensive damagin spells, deny the coming of death with their healing magics, call back fragments of souls to raise the undead, or rip entire soul shards out of their new bodies to revive the dead entirely.
