Basic Information
Elves spend their early years leisurely exploring their talents and interests. It is only around their 8th decade that they begin to specialize in certain skills, deciding what they will pursue as their calling. Despite their long lives, most elves focus their energies on developing only a few talents, becoming great musicians or fighters or speakers, with centuries of expertise in their crafts, rather than pursuing a jack of all trades approach.
Elves might have romantic relationships before they near the end of their 1st century, but these relationships are treated much as high school relationships are- brief and childish, regardless of whether or not they actually are.

Racial Traits
Ability Score Increase
Increase one ability score by 2. You can't raise any of your scores above 20.
Creature Type
Elves are primarily humanoids, having originated on The Material Plane, although the The Feywild and Shadowfellian influence in their creation gives them the secondary creature type of Fey. You are Humanoid-[Fey] (Elf).
Age
Although elves mature physically at about the same rate as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old, although those who live outside of their native environments, such as a sea elf far from the ocean, tend to live about half as long.
Elves raised outside of elven culture might be considered adults at the same age as humans, perhaps even taking up a trade and starting a family at the same age a human would.
Size
Elves range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision
Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Senses
You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Fey Ancestry
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Trance
Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.
Myths and Lore
Creation Myth
Many stories say that the first elves were humanoids who sought the wonders and powers of The Feywild and Shadowfell for themselves. Some stories say that magic was stolen, or a sacred flower boiled in soup or eaten, or the flesh of a fey king consumed, so that these humanoids might gain the long-lived nature and connection to the natural world of the fey. Other stories speak of great feats performed by heroes for the fey people, or at the behest of fey gods, or dead humanoids brought back to life by fey magics after a heroic sacrifice, forever altered.
It is likely that pieces of all of these stories, and more, are true. Elves are a diverse people with diverse cultures and stories, and it is unlikely that they have a singular origin.
History
It is widely accepted that the first elves were Shadar-kai and Drow.
