Overview
Profile
Mars, Goddess of War, is filled with an unquenchable rage, an undying desire to fight against wrongdoing, to drive out conquerors, to protect The Shadowfell and its people by the most violent of means. She has no interest in diplomacy or tactics, and ever the most eloquent of speakers would struggle to convince her that violence is ever not the answer. She can be found roaming the borders of Shadowfell, cutting down any who are unwelcome in their borders, or picking fights on other planes.
Depictions
Appearance
Mars is often depicted in full plate mail, wielding a shield on one arm and spear in the other. She has the same monotone coloration as other Shadowfell residents, but her hair is the color of bright red blood, and she is often at least partially bloodsoaked.
Holy Symbol
Mar's most common holy symbol is the spear, but any weapon, including fists or a shield, can be used as her symbol.
Influences
Goals
For millennia, Mars has longed for a violent, bloody battle on The Material Plane between En's first peoples and the surface dwellers. While most deities have little direct involvement with The Material Plane, Mars can often be found there encouraging and aiding in violent rebellion.
Divine Relationships
Mar's involvement in The Material Plane has won them few friends. While Ember has thus far maintained neutrality, leaving Mars to her devices, many are apprehensive of getting involved with a woman who might at any moment face the wrath of Ember. Even those who dislike The Sun God keep their distance, preferring less suicidal companions.
Stryke, Goddess of Strategy, is especially critical of Mar's lack of forethought, and the two often challenge each other to duels or mock battles.
Myths and Deeds
The Red Haired Goddess
According to myth, Mars was born with pure white hair befitting the monotone nature of Shadowfell. After the first time she was cut down in battle, she reformed with a single strand of her hair turned red.
