Overview
Profile
Ceres is the Goddess of Farming and farming communities. She was instrumental in the survival of En's first peoples, expending much of her divine powers to seed En with plants which would grow in the newborn wasteland, and sending fey under her command to teach the young races how to nurture life in the barren soils.
Ceres embodies Shadowfell's willingness to toil for success and survive in difficult environments, as well as the tight sense of community born from shared hardships. She recognizes the value of a community's shared knowledge, and the need for knowledge to be passed on generation to generation through tradition.
Although she remains devoted to the first peoples, she has also taken an interest in the surface-dwelling races and is a popular god among farming communities.
Depictions
Appearance
Ceres shifts her form to suit her followers. To Underdark dwellers she appears as a Shadow Fey with striking golden eyes. To surface dwellers, she takes on a humanoid form with golden skin and curling golden hair.
Holy Symbol
Ceres is often symbolized with the staple food of a region, such as wheat or rice.
Influences
Goals
In Ceres ideal world, everyone would live in small farming communities where traditions and farming techniques were passed on through the generations. She believes shared toil is the best way to unite a community.
Divine Relationships
Next to Monet, Ceres may be the most infuriated with Ember and The Lightbringing, as many of her fey were killed in the ensuing violence, and her plants withered under the harsh light, many species driven to extinction.
She has a close friendship with Juno, as the two are the Shadowfellian deities most involved beyond Shadowfell and The Underdarks' borders.
