Overview

Profile

Rithon oversees The Ethereal Plane and the souls within it. They monitor the reformation of the broken souls of the dead, which reform in their realm into new souls to be reborn under No'vel's oversight.

Rithon is known to be a rather weak deity, often identified as the weakest planar deity at least in terms of direct power. Despite this, they take their job very seriously and have no qualms defending their domain from the encroachment of more powerful deities like Pluto or Calyus.

While amicable enough, Rithon takes a harsh stance on trespassers to their domain, typically offering a single chance for interlopers, regardless of their excuses, to leave The Ethereal Plane before the Soul Guard deal with them.

Depictions

Appearance

Rithon takes the form of a mass of swirling "souls", which are somehow simultaneously distinct yet also meld together indistinguishably to form one entity.

Holy Symbol

Rithon has very few followers, but those who do seek to express devotion to him might mark themselves with white face paint done up in straight, parallel lines.

Influences

Goals

In Rithon's ideal world, the only souls that linger within The Ethereal Plane are the native False Undead. Rithon's goal is to ensure no restless soul ever remains tied to its past life, and that every soul is able to move on and reform in a new life.

Divine Relationships

Rithon is close with Reaper, with the older deity having served as a mentor figure to them. Some go so far as to label Rithon as a demigod of Reaper despite the two belonging to different planes. The two often work closely together on matters relating to the death of souls, and often present a united front in negotiations with Calyus over her soul collecting.

Rithon has adamantly campaigned to end the use of all resurrection spells, even more adamantly than No'vel and Reaper. They believe that even a simply Revivify can scar a soul, damaging it for generations of its lives to come.
