Central Beliefs & Tenets

The Council adheres to an unshakable creed: “Where none but silver tread, no evil can be led.” This reflects their belief that through their stewardship, no corruption will take root in Mistwood Lake. Their presence stands as a beacon of order, justice, and wisdom, ensuring that the kingdom remains strong and its people protected.

  • Stewardship of the Crown – The Council exists to serve, guide, and uphold the rule of the king, ensuring that his dominion remains unchallenged and his legacy endures.

  • Wisdom in All Things – Every decision must be made with knowledge, foresight, and restraint, favoring strategy over impulse.

  • Balance Above All – The Council ensures harmony between the monarchy, the realm, and its institutions, maintaining stability and prosperity.

  • The Light of the Moon – As the moon reflects the sun, so too does the Council reflect the king’s light, guiding the kingdom when he cannot or chooses not to act directly.

  • The Silver Path – Only those who walk the path of wisdom, duty, and sacrifice may guide the kingdom. No corrupt force may influence Mistwood Lake while the Council remains steadfast.

Organization

The Silver Council consists of eight seats, each representing a phase of the moon, symbolizing the Council’s duty to reflect the king’s light. These eight figures govern Mistwood Lake, overseeing law, military, trade, and diplomacy in the king’s name. While all members hold equal voting power, influence within the Council varies based on lineage, expertise, and political maneuvering.

Moon Phase

Role

Description

Sun Seat

The King

The king’s throne stands apart from the moon seats, representing the Sun, the true source of light that the Council reflects. The Council may govern in his name, but only the king holds ultimate sovereignty.

Full Moon Seat

High Chancellor

The highest-ranking councilor and the guiding light of the Council, the Full Moon represents clarity, wisdom, and steadfast leadership. This seat presides over meetings, settles disputes, and serves as the public face of the Council. Typically held by the eldest or most politically astute member, the Full Moon ensures the stability of Mistwood Lake, especially in the king’s absence.

Waxing Moon Seat

Master of Law & Order

Oversees the Silver Shields, ensuring law enforcement and military stability within Mistwood Lake. Works closely with the Master of the Watch to suppress rebellion and maintain public order.

Waning Moon Seat

Master of Coin & Trade

Manages the kingdom’s treasury, taxation, and (now) trade agreements. This seat controls Mistwood Lake’s economic strength, balancing merchant interests with the Council’s financial needs.

Crescent Moon Seat

Master of the Watch

Oversees intelligence, security, and internal threats. Works with the Master of Law & Order to root out threats and maintain loyalty within the kingdom’s forces.

Gibbous Moon Seat

Master of Records

The keeper of the Council’s history, documentation, and classified information. This member ensures that knowledge is preserved and wields influence over major decisions.

Dark Moon Seat

Master of Relations

Manages alliances, negotiations, and (now) foreign affairs, ensuring Mistwood Lake maintains its standing with neighboring powers.

New Moon Seat

Master of Infrastructure & Development

Half Moon Seat

Scholarch

The only non-hereditary seat, reserved for the Scholarch of the Arcanus Academia, the highest authority on magic in the kingdom. Represents the interests of scholars and mages, acting as an intermediary between the Council and the Academia.

Supporting Roles

While the eight councilors hold ultimate authority, they are supported by lesser officials, advisors, and military leaders, including:

  • The Honor of Silver – Trusted individuals, such as high-ranking Silver Shields, scholars, or advisors, who serve as non-voting members, offering expertise in governance.

  • The Silver Shields – The kingdom’s elite military force, commanded by the Master of Law & Order.
