Shimmer Rot
Magical Contagion
Shimmer Rot is contracted by prolonged exposure to the miasma and mists. It has also been reported that Shimmer Rot was contracted by a member of the Mist Watch after being exposed to the emesis from a dragon mid-mutation. Further research is needed as this member of the Mist Watch had already contracted Shimmer Rot but developed additional mutations. A creature suffers the following effects an hour after infection.
A character who contracts Shimmer Rot will gain the following effects:
You gain a mutation. Describe what mutation your character receives or roll on the Mutations table. (Flavor Effect)
Your hit die maximum is halved. This does not change your HP, only your hit die pool used for healing. (Mechanical Effect)
At the start of each combat turn, you must roll a DC14 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, roll on the Shimmer Rot Effects Table below. (Mechanical Effect)
Mutation Table
Shadowbound Eyes: Eyes that can see in the darkest of environments but become overly sensitive to bright light.
Thorned Skin: Skin covered in tiny, harmless thorns that can cause discomfort to others when touched.
Mistbloom Disease: Strange growths or tumors that develop on the adventurer's body, causing physical deformities and health complications.
Mistwalker's Limbs: Limbs that can stretch or contort unnaturally.
Veilweaver's Veins: Veins that glow softly beneath the skin.
Mistborne Lungs: Lungs that can filter mist and toxic gases, causing difficulty breathing in clean air.
Cursed Growth: Random patches of moss or fungus that grow on the adventurer's body.
Whispering Mind: Hearing faint whispers or voices that aren't there, providing occasional insights or warnings, but potentially driving the adventurer to paranoia.
Mistcursed Flesh: Skin that constantly exudes a foul-smelling mist, causing repulsion in others and making social interactions difficult.
Mistwrack Corruption: Slow transformation into a monstrous being, with features distorted by the cursed mist, leading to eventual loss of identity and humanity.

Curing Shimmer Rot:
Research into curing Shimmer Rot is ongoing. If you find yourself afflicted with the disease, it’s recommended you submit yourself to the Arcanus Academia for research purposes. Adding friendly members of the Mist Watch to your will would also be a prudent measure.
If you wish to aid in the process of finding a cure, it’s recommended you gather a party of adventurers and engage in research quests to help in its discovery.
New Reports have come in sighting mutations impacting other creatures in different ways and at different speeds. More research will be necessary.
